Tree Pruning

Tree Pruning: Both Art & Science

tree pruningTree pruning addresses the structural integrity, shape, and appearance of your trees. Pruning, especially if done regularly, will allow your plants and landscape to thrive while reducing risks.
Tree pruning provides a variety of benefits to the trees themselves as well as to the surrounding landscape.  The trained professionals and certified arborists at Royal Green Tree Service can examine your trees to determine the best course of action to prevent fungus, eliminate risks, reduce fatigue, and enhance the beauty of not only your trees but your visual access to picturesque views.

Benefits Of Tree Pruning

Broken branches should be pruned to avoid risk and prevent disease.

Health

Removal of dead, diseased, or broken branches is necessary for the protection of property and the trees themselves. In this way regular tree care prevents disease producing fungi from infecting otherwise healthy areas of your tree.

Structural Integrity

Developmental tree pruning is done to enhance the architecture and structural integrity of young trees. This practice allows you to avoid problems as your landscape matures.

Aesthetics & Restoration

Pruning will help you realize the maximum beauty of your trees. Proper tree care is necessary for the rehabilitation of trees in decline.

Eliminate Danger & Reduce Risk

Regular pruning can prevent hazards or damage from falling limbs. Trees with low hanging branches should be pruned so as not to interfere with pedestrian or vehicular traffic.

Eye Candy

Particularly here in Massachusetts and New Hampshire pruning can have a dramatic effect on privacy while enhancing the vistas or picturesque views you wish to enjoy on your property.

Pruning Techniques

Pruning techniques used today are very specific, and goal oriented. Types of pruning can include one, or all of the following techniques:

Crown Cleaning

The removal of dead, dying, diseased, broken, and weakly attached limbs.

Crown Thinning

Crown thinning includes selective limb removal to reduce limb density. This allows for more light and air movement to penetrate the crown. When performed properly, crown thinning helps maintain a tree’s shape and form, and helps to reduce the weight of heavy limbs.

Crown Raising

Crown raising includes the removal of a tree’s lower limbs. Crown raising is generally required for providing clearance to building structures, vehicles, and roadways. It is also used to clear pathways for pedestrians to travel through, or for simple aesthetic purposes.

Crown Reduction

This type of pruning is often specified when a tree’s limbs begin to encroach upon building structures, or utility lines. It is also employed when a tree’s limbs have grown too large for their particular location. This technique is accomplished by cutting back the tree’s leaders and branch terminals to secondary branches.
